“Axis performance festival and tour” July 1999
The project, a collaboration between Sørlandets Kunstnersenter, Riksutstillinger, Quartfestivalen, Sørlandets Kunstmuseum and modus vivendi, was made possible with funding from the Norwegian Arts Council, the Nordic Council, Kristiansand municipality, West and Aust Agder county municipalities. Riksutstillinger supported the tour section.
Performance artists from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and the Netherlands participated.
The festival itself took place in Kristiansand 3 and 4 July. Performances were organized in public places in the city, inside the festival area of the Quart Festival and in a number of galleries.
The tour consisted of 4 artists; Frank Busk, John Øivind Eggesbø,, Anet van der Elzen and Tommy Olsson, who did performances in Lillesand, Arendal, Mandal, Lyngdal, Farsund and Flekkefjord.
The tour was filmed by Dick Boshof, a Dutch film photographer who made a short documentary film.
As part of the production, a festival folder and newspaper were made which were distributed to the public. After the tour, Marcel Dekker Devos created “axis”, an interactive CD-ROM.
